UPDATE Hatupere Dairy Farm - Rotary Milking Shed Project A key component of the dairy strand industry within the Te Manawa O Tuhoe Strategic Plan for the next 5 years, is the establishment of a new 54 bale rotary milking shed to accommodate growth on the farm. The new Hatupere rotary shed will have state of the art equipment providing the Sharemilker with electronic monitoring of milk output, quality and animal condition.
Other benefits of the new rotary shed include: - reduced time and cost to milk the herd, from 6-8 hours per day with three staff; 4-5 hours per day with two staff; allowing staff more time to work on the farm improvements
- reduced stress on the animals with less competition between cows as they enter the shed; and
- providing a healthier, safer more enjoyable work environment which helps with attracting good staff and increases productivity.
